PMW Expo 2025: Motion Applied shows next-gen F1 ECU at rebrand launch

· DailySportscar

Former McLaren Applied launched its Motion Applied brand at PMW Expo in Cologne and showed its next-generation Formula 1 ECU; Cosworth showed a new GT wheel and PDM.

Daily Sportscar's notebook from PMW (Professional Motorsport World) Expo 2025 in Cologne, Germany, reported that the show's headline sponsor, Motion Applied, used the event to launch its new identity. The company was formerly McLaren Applied, the electronics firm behind the TAG series of engine control units (ECUs) and ATLAS data software used in top-level motorsport; it announced the new name in June 2025, saying it reflects its status as an independent tier-one supplier.

On its stand Motion Applied displayed a next-generation Formula 1 ECU, its TSW-700 steering wheel, NASCAR's 2026 electronics platform and a live analytics platform. The report did not give a name, specifications or introduction date for the new F1 ECU. The company's business development head also took part in a roundtable on the Mission H24 hydrogen prototype project, to which Motion Applied contributes.

Other electronics news in the notebook included Cosworth's first GT steering wheel and its Centaurus 3 power distribution module for mid-tier and junior series, and MoTeC's STW195 steering wheel winning the PMW Data and Electronics Solution of the Year award.
