Haltech Nexus IO16 expansion module now available
CAN device adds 16 configurable input/output channels to Nexus or Elite ECUs.
Haltech has released the Nexus IO16, a 16-channel input/output expander that connects over the Haltech CAN bus to add user-configurable channels to a Nexus or Elite ECU.
The IO16 provides six analog voltage inputs (0 to 5 V with selectable pull-up resistors), four synchronised pulsed inputs that accept reluctor or digital signals, and six half-bridge outputs rated at 8 A that can source or sink current at 0 to 100% duty cycle with a 2.2 kHz switching speed. It also supplies three 5 V sensor power outputs and four sensor grounds. It runs on 8 to 22 V and has no reverse polarity protection.
The half-bridge outputs are not suitable for drive-by-wire (DBW) throttle control, which must stay on the ECU itself. The module is not compatible with Haltech's older Platinum ECUs or third-party ECUs. Haltech's US store lists the IO16 at US$399 (excluding tax), with versions bundled with a plug-and-pin kit or a universal wire-in harness also available.
