Link promotes built-in automatic gearbox control for 4-speed autos
Link ECUs can now control selected 4-speed automatics (Nissan RE4R01A/03A, Subaru 4EAT, Aisin A340E, GM 4L60E-4L85E) from the engine ECU with no separate TCU or paid upgrade. Available on G4X XtremeX, FuryX, all Plug-ins and G5 ECUs.
Link ECU has published an article promoting the automatic gearbox control that is built into its own ECUs, letting one unit run both the engine and selected 4-speed automatic transmissions. No separate transmission control unit (TCU) or paid software upgrade is required.
Tuners can set shift points by RPM, tune line pressure for softer or firmer shifts, and manage torque converter lockup. Manual shift modes are supported, and up to three shift tables can be stored so the same car can behave differently for street or motorsport use. Link also describes a GM Global A transmission CAN mode, in which the ECU supplies the CAN data a GM Global A transmission controller expects so the gearbox can work in a different vehicle.
The feature is limited to the G4X XtremeX and FuryX, all Link plug-in ECUs and all G5 ECUs. Supported gearboxes listed at the time are the Nissan RE4R01A and RE4R03A, the Subaru Phase-I 4EAT, the Toyota Aisin A340E, and GM's 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E, 4L75E, 4L80E and 4L85E. Setup and tuning details are in Link's online knowledge base.
