MoTeC M1 plug-in ECU kit for FL5 Civic Type R released

· CivicXI forum

Plug-in kit uses the factory harness with M1 Tune, dash/traction integration and 250 MB logging; owners reported a listed price of about US$7,284.

MoTeC has released an M1 plug-in engine control unit (ECU) kit for the 11th-generation FL5 Honda Civic Type R, news that was shared on the CivicXI owners' forum in May 2025.

According to MoTeC's product page, the kit (part number 11418) replaces the factory ECU using the original wiring, sensors and direct injection system. It is based on the M142 ECU with a Honda Civic adaptor box, adaptor stub looms and an LTC lambda-to-CAN module using the factory Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor, and requires MoTeC's Honda Civic Type R K20C licence. It keeps OE features including push-button start, the Comfort, Sport, Individual and +R drive modes, adaptive cruise control, exhaust sound valve control by drive mode, rev-matching on downshifts, reverse lockout and dashboard warnings.

The kit offers per-cylinder knock control, boost control via the factory wastegate actuator, and support for optional secondary port injection for higher power and high-ethanol fuels. It suits the 2023-on manual K20C Type R only, not other Civic models.
