MoTeC M1 plug-in kits extended to Honda Civic Type R FK8
M142-based plug-in kit for the FK8 follows the earlier FL5 kit and adds an adaptor box for easier secondary port injection on the K20C.
MoTeC has an updated M1 plug-in engine control unit (ECU) kit for the 10th-generation FK8 Honda Civic Type R (2017 to 2020), following its kit for the newer FL5. The original trade-press report could not be opened, so this summary is based on MoTeC's own product page.
The kit (part number 11426) is built around an M142 ECU with a Honda Civic adaptor box, stub looms and an LTC lambda-to-CAN module, and needs MoTeC's Honda Civic Type R K20C licence. It uses the factory wiring, sensors and direct injection system, and keeps OE features such as push-button start, the Comfort, Sport and +R drive modes, adaptive cruise control, rev-matching on downshifts, reverse lockout, electric power steering and dashboard warnings. Alternator control is handled over the LIN bus.
The updated kit now supports optional secondary port injection on top of the factory direct injection, for higher boost, more power and high-ethanol fuels. It is for manual-transmission K20C Type R models only. US dealer GSpeed lists the kit at US$6,305.
